The fifth Sioux Falls Charter Revision Commission, recently appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council, is conducting public meetings through January 2012 to assist them in preparing a report for the Mayor and City Council pertaining to suggested revisions of the City’s Charter, the governing document for the conduct of Sioux Falls government.
Any changes to the Charter, as proposed by the Charter Revision Commission, may be presented in the form of Charter Amendments to city voters in April 2012.
In order to allow all Sioux Falls citizens an opportunity to review the Charter Revision Commission’s work and proposed revisions that may be considered, the Commission has scheduled a series of public meetings and hereby provides public notice of their upcoming meetings as follows:
- December 16, 2011, from 3:30–4:30 p.m.
- January 4, 2012, from 3:30–4:30 p.m.
- January 27, 2012, from 3:30–4:30 p.m.
All meetings will be held at Carnegie Town Hall, 235 West Tenth Street in Sioux Falls.
Please note: There will be a designated amount of time at the beginning of each meeting for public input and comment. Written comments or input will also be received by the Commission directly by sending them to the Sioux Falls City Attorney’s Office, Attention: Charter Revision Commission, 224 West Ninth Street, P.O. Box 7402, Sioux Falls, SD 57117-7402, or by emailing them to charterrevisioncomments@siouxfalls.org through December 31, 2011.
Note: Submission of written comments at least three working days prior to a meeting is not required but is strongly encouraged if the person submitting such comments or input has an interest in formally getting on the agenda before the Commission.
The Charter Revision Commission agendas and minutes are available for viewing on the City’s website, www.siouxfalls.org. In addition, their meetings will be available to watch online via live streaming video and through an archive available on demand on the website. The meetings will also be rebroadcast on cable channel CityLink 16 on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons at 3 p.m. and Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. during the weeks that the live meetings are held.
