A task force is exploring setting limits on the number of livestock (including chickens and goats) allowed to be kept in the City limits. The group will hold its first meeting on Friday, December 2, 2011, at 2:30 p.m., in the Carnegie Town Hall Multi-Purpose Room. The public is invited to attend.
The Urban Agricultural Task Force is an ad hoc committee of the City Council’s Land Use Committee, set up to review ordinances regarding growing food sources and keeping livestock.
“We are looking for one more member on the task force to offer balance between proponents and opponents as we discuss agriculture within our City limits,” said City Councilor Rex Rolfing.
Any citizen interested in setting limits or participating in the discussion is encouraged to contact Shawna Goldammer, Zoning Enforcement Manager, at 367-8692. |
