February is National School-Based Health Care Month and Children’s Dental Health Month. Falls Community Health has been instrumental in providing both medical and dental care at two area schools, Hawthorne Elementary and Terry Redlin Elementary.
For the past two years, the students have had an opportunity to receive health and dental care during the school day without leaving the building. This has been a very successful program in providing dental and medical care to children that otherwise might not have access to care. The program reduces the amount of time a child is out of the classroom, which benefits the student’s education and health.
In observance of Children’s Dental Health and School-Based Health Care Month, it would be a good time to check when your child last saw their dental and medical providers. Prevention is the best method for achieving great overall health.
Expansion of a third school-based clinic site will be at Hayward Elementary in 2012. |
