On February 4, 2012, at approximately 1 a.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a fire at 3600 North Seventh Avenue.
First-arriving crews found sparks and fire coming from a chimney. Crews extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. The fire was under control in approximately ten minutes. The fire was contained within the chimney.
The residents were out of the structure prior to Sioux Falls Fire Rescue arriving on scene. There were no civilian or Firefighter injuries.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 2 support vehicles, 4 fire trucks, and 18 Firefighters. The house did not have a residential sprinkler system. The fire was caused by the wood burning stove.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind citizens to make sure heating sources are inspected and maintained annually.
