At 5:44 p.m. on Saturday evening, February 4, 2012, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue units were dispatched to 702 North Blauvelt Avenue for a structure fire. Reporting parties initially believed that the house was burning.
Primary dispatch included four trucks and one support vehicle with a total of 17 Firefighters.
On arrival, SFFR units found that the unattached garage to the east of the residence was fully involved. The house was not damaged.
The fire was extinguished with no injuries to the public. One Firefighter suffered a minor shoulder injury and was treated at the scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue reminds homeowners that not only your residence, but garages and other buildings on your property should be routinely checked for fire hazards.
