At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2012, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with two patients trapped. Firefighters arrived on scene to find one vehicle on its side north of the intersection with two patients requiring extrication.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to extricate both patients from the vehicle. There were no injuries at the scene. All persons involved had been wearing seat belts.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 13 personnel in 3 fire trucks and 1 support vehicle. Fire crews were assisted by the Sioux Falls Police Department.
