The Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill has been awarded a grant from the SD Department of Environment and Natural Resources to help with tire cleanup efforts from residential and farm properties in the five-county service area of the Landfill. The Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill serves Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha, and Turner counties. This program is for farm and residential tires only; businesses are not eligible for this program that offsets tire handling and recycling costs for the Landfill. Proof of residency such as a valid driver’s license will be required at the Landfill scale house.

Beginning immediately and lasting until either the grant funds have been exhausted or until May 15, 2012, residents and farmers may bring tires to the Landfill; and the Landfill’s costs to recycle these tires will be reimbursed by the State grant. If funds become short before May 15, 2012, the Landfill will send out notification that this program will be ending early.

The Landfill’s current fall/winter hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The gates to the Landfill will close to new traffic promptly at 4:30 p.m.

It is strongly encouraged that your waste be unloaded as soon as possible after 4:30 p.m. to allow staff adequate time for day-end procedures. Landfill staff greatly appreciates your cooperation on this matter. Also, please remember to tarp all loads on the way to the Landfill to prevent litter.
