At approximately 8 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to 709 East Pam Road for a reported structure fire. First arriving crews reported heavy smoke and flames. Firefighters arrived on scene in approximately three minutes. It took Firefighters approximately one hour to control the fire. Due to extensive fire and smoke damage, crews extinguished hot spots over the next two and one half hours.
There were no civilian injuries; however, two Firefighters sustained minor injuries on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and the Sioux Falls Police Department.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 27 personnel in six fire trucks, two support vehicles, and a command car. Fire crews were assisted by the Sioux Falls Police Department, the Red Cross, Rural/Metro Ambulance, Mid American Energy, Sioux Falls Water Department, and a Sioux Falls City bus.
